Interface Tour

After reading this page you will be able to: name every area of the main window and find any feature without getting lost.

The main window has five areas: the sidebar, the chat area, the workspace, the preview panel, and the titlebar. Here is each one.

The leftmost column, from top to bottom:

Batch Manage	Right of “New Chat”, a checklist icon	Select multiple chats to delete, export, or archive in bulk; click again to exit batch mode
Assistants	Fixed above “Scheduled Tasks”, a ghost icon	Open the official assistants and my assistants lists
Scheduled Tasks	Fixed above the scrolling list, an alarm-clock icon	Manage tasks that run automatically on a schedule
File Manager	Fixed below “Scheduled Tasks”, a folder icon	Open the full-disk file manager panel at any time
Screen Wall	Fixed below “File Manager”, a monitor icon	Open the live primary display monitor for remote inspection and automation oversight

Below a divider comes the scrollable chat list, grouped in three sections:

Pinned: chats you pinned by hand; drag to reorder
Projects: chats bound to a project folder, grouped by project with the most recently used first
Chats: chats without a project, grouped by time: Today, Last 7 Days, Earlier

At the bottom sits the Settings button (gear icon); inside settings it turns into “Back to Chat”. The settings page also shows a light/dark theme toggle, and the web version adds a sign-out entry here.

2. Chat area

The large middle area, from top to bottom:

Message stream: your full dialogue with the AI, including thoughts, tool calls, and final responses
Input box: send text, paste images, attach files; typing @, @@, or / opens context menus (see Chat Input)
Model and permission selectors: near the input box, change models or tweak AI authority (see Permissions and Safety)
Context usage: displays current tokens used and context capacity

3. Workspace

The panel to the right of the chat area, visible when a project folder is assigned, containing two tabs:

Tab	What it shows
Files	File tree of the current project
Changes	AI modifications to project files (Git diff)

Press Ctrl+L (⌘L on macOS) to collapse or expand the workspace.

4. Preview panel

AI-generated web pages, images, documents, the file manager, and the screen wall all open here:

Multiple tabs supported: each file or tool gets its own tab with easy switching
Maximize/restore at top right; save edits with Ctrl+S (⌘S on macOS)
To browse all local files, click “File Manager” in the sidebar; to monitor your desktop live, click “Screen Wall”

5. Titlebar

The top bar containing:

Navigation buttons and page title
Search button: query history by keyword
Feedback button
Window controls: the Windows client uses custom titlebar buttons from left to right: Maximize/Restore, Floating Mini Window, Minimize, Close (macOS & Linux versions coming soon)

Clicking the Mini Window button shrinks the chat into a desktop widget (return with Alt+Q). See Floating Mini Window.

6. System Tray

When minimized to the tray, right-click the icon to show the window, start a chat, view active tasks, or check updates. Tray settings can be adjusted in Desktop Features & Tray.

What success looks like

Identify the five regions: Sidebar, Chat Area, Workspace, Preview Panel, Titlebar
Locate “New Chat / Batch Manage / Assistants / Scheduled Tasks / File Manager / Screen Wall / Settings” in the sidebar
Press Ctrl+L to collapse and restore the workspace
Click the Mini Window button to shrink the app into a desktop overlay
