Managing Sessions

After reading this page you will be able to: create, pin, rename, archive, and search chats, and keep the whole sidebar list organized.

  • Click New Chat at the top of the sidebar (plus icon), or press Ctrl+T (⌘T on macOS)
  • When a project folder is set, the plus icon next to a project group means “New chat in this project” — the new chat belongs to that project

The sidebar list has three sections, top to bottom. Click a section label to collapse it, click again to expand:

SectionWhat’s inside
PinnedChats you pinned by hand
ProjectsChats bound to a project folder, collapsed per project, most recently used first
ChatsEverything else, grouped by time: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Earlier

Hover over a chat row, click the ”…” icon at the end of the row (or right-click the row) to open its menu:

Menu itemWhat it does
Pin / UnpinFix the chat to the “Pinned” section, or unfix it
Mark as unread / Mark as readManually control the blue dot reminder on the row
RenameOpens a “Rename chat” dialog; click Save when done
Create scheduled taskCreate a scheduled task based on this chat
ArchiveMove the chat out of the list into “Archived” (see section 6)

Delete is not in this menu: to remove a chat permanently, archive it first, then delete it under Settings → Archived (section 6).

  • Click Pin in the menu; the chat moves to the “Pinned” section and its leading icon becomes a pushpin on hover
  • Chats inside “Pinned” can be dragged — “Drag to reorder pinned conversation” — and the order persists
SearchEntryWhat it finds
Search within a chatCtrl+F (⌘F on macOS), or the magnifier at the top of the anchor railKeywords in the current chat’s Q&A; results are highlighted, / to move, Enter to jump, Esc to close
Search all conversationsCtrl+Shift+F (desktop app only), or the Search button in the titlebarKeywords across all chats’ history; type into “Search message content…”, results load page by page, click one to jump straight to that message

Archive means “put away”; delete means “gone for good”:

  1. Click Archive in a chat’s menu — it disappears from the sidebar
  2. Open Settings → Archived (the “Archived conversations” tab) to see archived chats and teams
  3. To restore: click Unarchive to send it back to the sidebar; for a whole project archived together, click Restore all
  4. To delete permanently: click Batch manage, tick items, and use Batch delete; you can also click Delete item by item, or Delete all to empty the page

Batch mode also works from the sidebar: click the checklist icon right of “New Chat” (Batch Manage), tick several chats, and the panel shows how many are selected plus Select All and Batch archive; click the checklist icon again to Exit Batch Mode.

7. Forking: branch a new chat from any message

Section titled “7. Forking: branch a new chat from any message”

To try a different direction from some point in a chat without touching the original:

  1. Open the chat and hover over that message
  2. Click the fork icon — “Fork from here
  3. A new chat is copied up to that message; the original chat stays unchanged, and the two never affect each other

The forked chat shows a fork badge next to its name in the sidebar; hovering it shows “Forked from “original chat name””.

  • Pressing Ctrl+T starts a new chat and a new row appears
  • You can pin any chat and drag to reorder the “Pinned” section
  • Ctrl+F finds keywords in the current chat; titlebar Search locates messages across chats
  • After archiving, the chat leaves the sidebar but appears in Settings → Archived and can be Unarchived
  • Clicking “Fork from here” on a message produces a new chat with a fork badge in the sidebar
