Assistant Center

After reading this page you will be able to: enable the right assistants and set their default model and permissions, so every new chat starts your way.

Assistants are ready-to-work AI experts, preloaded with skills and tools. Enable them and they show up in your chats, teams, and scheduled tasks, ready to go.

Where: Assistants in the left sidebar (the ghost icon, fixed above “Scheduled Tasks”)

The page has three tabs at the top:

TabWhat is inside
EnabledThe assistants currently switched on, ordered by your drag-and-drop order, ready to chat
My Assistants”Assistants auto-generated from your local CLIs, plus ones you created or duplicated from official.”
Official”Official assistants built into AIPC UP, maintained and updated with each release; duplicate as “My Assistant” to customize freely.”

The top-right Create Assistant button offers Create via chat (the Butler walks you through it) or Create manually; next to it is a search box (“Search assistants by name or description”).

  1. Flip the switch on an official or my-assistant card to enable it; off means disabled, and you can turn it back on anytime
  2. In the Enabled tab, drag cards to reorder. The page explains: “Drag to reorder — this decides the display order wherever you pick an assistant (home, teams, scheduled tasks, …).”
  3. While searching or filtering you cannot drag; the page says “Clear search to reorder.” — clear the keyword first
  4. With no match, the page shows “No assistants match the current filters.”

4. Editing an assistant: Assistant Details

Section titled “4. Editing an assistant: Assistant Details”

Click any assistant card to open its Assistant Details page with five sections top to bottom:

SectionFieldsNotes
Identity (Applies immediately)Avatar / Name / DescriptionThree avatar sources: “Upload image”, “Emoji”, “Built-in”; the description placeholder is “What can this assistant help with?”
Recommended Prompts (Applies immediately)Suggested prompt list”Enter one suggested prompt per line”; they appear as clickable examples in the chat
Engine (New conversations only)AgentPicks the Agent that does the work. The page notes: “Changing the Agent updates which model and permission values are available below.”
Default Configuration (New conversations only)Model / Permission / Thought Level / Skills / MCPEach item is either “Use fixed value” or “Remember last used automatically”; “Not configured” keeps the global default
Rules (New conversations only)Markdown rulesType the rules this assistant must follow into “Enter rules in Markdown format…”, with “Edit / Preview” to switch

About Default Configuration:

  • Use fixed value: every new chat starts with the exact model, permission mode, or thought level you chose; a fixed value requires picking a concrete option, otherwise saving is blocked with a prompt
  • Remember last used automatically: you pick the first time, then it reuses your last choice. The page notes: “Remember last used only takes effect after this assistant has recorded a previous selection.”
  • The Skills item links to “Manage in Skills Hub”, and the MCP item to “Open MCP settings”

Click Save at the top right when done.

  • Duplicate as my assistant: find it in the ”···” menu of an official assistant card. The duplicate is a freely editable copy; the original official assistant stays read-only. Opening an official assistant’s details says: “This is an official assistant — only engine-related settings can be changed. To customize anything else, duplicate it as “My Assistant”.”
  • Chat: hovering a card reveals the Chat button, which starts a conversation with that assistant right away
  • Delete: only assistants you created or duplicated can be deleted, after confirming “Are you sure you want to delete this assistant? This action cannot be undone.”; official and CLI assistants cannot be deleted — for the latter the page says: “This assistant is auto-generated by an Agent and linked one-to-one with its CLI. Name, avatar, and Agent can’t be changed; everything else is freely editable.”
  • You can open the Assistant Center from Assistants in the sidebar and switch between the Enabled / My Assistants / Official tabs
  • An official assistant is enabled (its name shows up in the assistant picker of a new chat)
  • A fixed default model and permission are set on an assistant, and a new chat opens with exactly that combination
  • You can drag your most-used assistant to the top of the Enabled list and see the new order in the assistant picker
