Agent Teams

After reading this page you will be able to: create agent teams, assign roles, and collaborate across parallel and board views for complex multi-step tasks.

Agent Teams allow you to group multiple specialized AI assistants into a single unified workspace:

  • Team Leader: Coordinates the overall workflow, breaks down instructions, delegates sub-tasks, and summons additional members when needed.
  • Team Members: Possess distinct roles, instructions, and tools to execute specific sub-tasks in parallel or sequentially.
  • Shared Workspace: All team members collaborate on the same local project directory and shared task board.

Entry: Sidebar → Teams → Create Team

Creating a team involves three setup steps:

  1. Assign a Team Leader: Select an enabled official or custom assistant to act as the primary coordinator (marked with a flag ⚑ icon).
  2. Select Team Members: Add participating assistants (the same assistant can be added multiple times for different sub-roles). Leaders can also spawn temporary teammates during conversations.
  3. Link a Project Folder: Choose the local project folder where all team members can read and write files.

Once configured, the new team appears under the “Teams” section in the left sidebar and opens the team workbench directly.

The team workbench header offers three view modes to suit different phases of collaboration:

ViewBest ForKey Characteristics
Parallel ViewTracking simultaneous workDisplays real-time conversation bubbles side-by-side to monitor concurrent execution
Chat ViewGuiding a specific memberFocuses on a single selected member for fine-grained 1-on-1 interaction
Activity BoardOverall progress reviewShows unified task progression (Pending, In Progress, Completed) and system events

During execution, sub-tasks created by the Leader are synchronized to the shared board:

  • Task Status Progression: Tracks tasks through “Pending”, “In Progress”, and “Completed” states with dependency indicators.
  • Shared Workspace Files: The right sidebar file tree reflects project changes in real time as members create or update files.

5. Member Management and Resetting Context

Section titled “5. Member Management and Resetting Context”

Use the member tabs and management options at the top of the workbench to adjust collaboration dynamically:

  • Add and Remove Members: Add assistants to active teams at any time; removing an active member prompts for confirmation.
  • Switch Models and Reconnect: Switch models for individual members or reconnect underlying Agent processes.
  • Start New Context: When long multi-turn sessions exhaust context memory, click “Start New Context” — resets conversation history while preserving existing tasks and files.
  • Interrupt and Send / Broadcast to All: Broadcast instructions to all team members simultaneously or interrupt a running task immediately.
  • Independent Approvals: Sensitive tool calls (e.g., file edits or shell executions) trigger individual approval dialogs per member, with pending counts badged on the sidebar.
  • Team Context Menu: Right-click any team in the left sidebar to Pin, Rename, Archive, or Delete (deletion is irreversible).
  • A team is created with a designated Leader, members, and a linked local project folder.
  • You can switch seamlessly between Parallel View and Activity Board to track task delegation.
  • Generated output files appear in the workspace file tree and can be opened in the preview panel.
