Preview Panel

After reading this page you will be able to: view and edit the files AI generates in the preview panel, and keep an eye on every move AI makes on pages and files.

Web pages, images, and documents AI produces — plus the file manager — all open in the preview panel on the right of the window. One file, one tab, ready when you click.

1. Managing tabs

Open as many files as you like, one tab each; opening the same file again jumps to its existing tab instead of duplicating it
When tabs overflow, the tab bar scrolls sideways
Collapse the panel and reopen — your tabs are still there
Right-click a tab:

Menu item	What it does
Close	Closes the current tab
Close Left / Close Right / Close Others	Batch closing
Close Unmodified	Closes only tabs without edits
Close All	Empties the tab bar
Copy Path / Copy Relative Path	Copies the file’s location
Show in folder	Reveals the file in the system file manager

Closing a tab with unsaved edits asks first: “The current content has not been saved. Do you want to save before closing?“

2. What it can open

PPT	.pptx, opens with a system app at the click of a button
HTML	Rendered page, with an “Element inspector” to click page elements and locate the code
Web URL	Opens a URL directly for browsing
Mermaid diagrams	Renders flowcharts, sequence diagrams, and more; scroll to zoom

CSV opens as plain text; legacy Office formats (doc, xls, ppt, and so on) cannot render here — the panel suggests opening them with a system app instead.

3. Editing files

Click Edit on the toolbar to start editing: code uses the built-in code editor, and Markdown adds split screen — write on the left, watch it render on the right; drag the divider to rebalance
Press Ctrl+S (⌘S on macOS) to save; exiting or closing a tab with edits asks first
Press Ctrl+W (⌘W on macOS) to close the current tab (only when the preview panel has focus)
Non-editable types (PDF, images, and so on) are view-only; “Open in system app” hands them to the system

4. Watching AI write

While AI is writing a file, content updates live with an “AI is writing…” badge at the top right
If a file changes on disk outside the panel, the toolbar shows “This file changed on disk — reload to see it”; click refresh to pick it up
If a file you are editing gets changed elsewhere, saving is blocked with a notice: the file changed since you opened it, your edits are still here, unsaved — reload to review the other changes first

5. The in-app browser

The preview panel doubles as a browser:

Click New tab (+) at the end of the tab bar, or click a link that appears in chat
The address bar takes a URL — or plain keywords to search
When AI drives this tab, its badge reads “The agent is operating this tab”, so you see every click it makes
Sign-in state is kept — log into a website once and you stay logged in

There is a tab limit (10); past it, the oldest tab is reused and a notice tells you so. The first time AI uses the browser, a one-time note explains it can open pages, click, and read content. To sign out of every website at once: Settings → System → In-app browser → Clear browsing data.

How to tell it worked

Ask AI to generate a web page or Markdown file and see it render in the panel
Open several tabs and batch-close them with a right-click
Enter edit mode on a Markdown file and watch split screen follow your typing
Let AI drive the in-app browser and spot “The agent is operating this tab” on the tab
